The MOESC Department of Child Study Services provides a variety of services to nonpublic school students in accordance with New Jersey’s Chapter 193. The programs provided to the nonpublic school pupils are evaluation and determination of eligibility and speech/language. In this school year, 700 child study team cases for Monmouth and Ocean Counties’ nonpublic schools were completed. The MOESC provided speech/language services to 1075 students during the school year.
It is the practice of the MOESC to provide thorough and cost efficient services to the public school districts. The MOESC Department of Child Study Services provides shared services to numerous public school districts. Certified Child Study Team and Speech/Language Specialists are available to augment service provided by District Child Study Teams.
Chapter 193 provides referral and evaluation for the purpose of determining eligibility for special education and related services and for developing an individualized education program appropriate to a pupil's educational needs within the nonpublic school setting. All evaluations are conducted in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6A:14-3.4.
Speech/Language services are provided to classified students enrolled in nonpublic schools as per their services plan. Speech/Language services include articulation, voice, phonology, fluency, and language. A certified speech/language specialist provides speech-language services in groups.
