Overview: Wilson Fundations make learning to read fun and helps future reading difficulties by giving children in the regular classroom a foundation for reading and spelling. It provides teachers with the skills and tools needed to present a structured sequential and cumulative phonics/spelling program using multisensory techniques. In addition to the daily whole class lesson, students who struggle in the general classroom (lowest 30th percentile) should also have additional Fundations instruction in a small group setting.

If Fundations is not used in the general classroom, it can be used as an intervention program for students in the lowest 30th percentile. These students should have Fundations for 40-60 minutes each day, completing the 25-minute daily lesson, plus supplemental activities as appropriate.

Outcome

·        Setting a foundation for life-long literacy.

·        The concepts and skills in the Fundations manual and materials.
