Coordinated transportation saves member districts valuable administrative
time while reducing transportation expenses. MOESC began a pilot coordinated transportation
program for special education students in 1982, serving the needs of 14 districts
and 200 students.
Today the Commission transports over 6,000 special needs, vocational, homeless,
and nonpublic students through cooperative contracts with 70 districts.
Reliable, cost-effective transportation, coupled with centralized management, coordinated
routing, scheduling adjustments, and appropriate reporting and form processing are
the key services provided by this program.
