CHOICES, an MOESC Regional Alternative School, serves non-classified
students, ages 12 through 18, who are unable to successfully complete their education
in the "traditional" school setting. This program is located at our Tinton Falls,
NJ site.
Students, referred to the program by local districts, benefit from individual support
in a non-traditional environment. Smaller classes and personalized instruction encourage
students to succeed academically.
The program is designed to provide a flexible educational environment as an alternative
to classification, expulsion or dropping out of school. In the small, closely supervised
setting, students receive an individualized academic program compatible to their
local school district and consistent with their interests, abilities, and career
plans.
Daily use of the computer laboratory enhances the academic curriculum. Computer
Assisted Instruction (CAI) is used as a supplementary classroom tool to heighten
student performance. The computerized program allows students to work at their individual
speeds, ranging from remedial to accelerated levels. Internet access provides students
with an opportunity to explore broad range research. Functional programs such as
word processing and spreadsheets are also included in the computer course offerings.
